Ruggedman set to anchor Star Quest once again


Once again, Nigerian rap artiste, Michael Ugochukwu Stephens a.k.a Ruggedman is poised to anchor Star Quest, one of the biggest music talent hunt shows in Nigeria. The controversial rapper was who had previously anchored the show in the past two

editions, was once again announced by Nigerian Breweries Plc, organizers of the show via press release.

The trio of R&B artiste, Paul Play Dairo, renowned on-air personality, Freeze and KC of group, KC Presh, who won the inaugural edition of the contest, were also announced as the judges for this year’s edition of the show. As judges, their major role would be to sieve the best 36 out of the large number of applicants expected to besiege the audition venues for a chance to participate at Star Quest. They would later be divided into a group of 6 containing 6 band members.

According to Mr. Yusuf Ageni, Nigerian Breweries Corporate Affairs Adviser, the choice of Ruggedman as the show anchor and Paul Play, Freeze and KC Presh’s ‘KC’ as judges is geared towards raising the bar of Star Quest as Nigeria’s best musical talent hunt competition. “Our panel of judges are versatile in their various areas of musical endeavors. Paul Play is an established and highly respected musical artiste. So is KC, a member of KC Presh, the group which won the very first edition of Star Quest. Freeze has over 13 years of radio broadcast experience. Our show anchor, Ruggedman is a well known Nigerian hip hop artiste. Nigerian Breweries has gone the extra mile of assembling these superstars line up to ensure that not only does the best band emerge from Star Quest but also, there are no dull moments when viewing the talent show,'' he said.

The auditions which is slated to commence from the 10th - 25th of March would be held at different states in Nigeria including Abuja, Enugu, Benin and Lagos. The winning band would be carting home a whooping N7.5 million recording contract, N3.6 million cash, a mini van and one year guaranteed accommodation in Lagos. In addition, the winning band will also participate in the upcoming 2011 Star-sponsored events as performing artistes.
